Advanced Placement® (AP) is a College Board program that offers college-level curriculum and exams to high school students allowing them to potentially earn college credit, skip introductory courses, boost their high school GPA, and enhance college applications. AP courses require strong academic skills and independent study.

Nationally recognized program sought after by colleges
Weighted on a 5-point scale (GPA Booster!)
Potentially earn college credit while in high school
Taught by high school teachers who offer support and guidance throughout the year

All students must take the Final AP Exam at the end of the year in May
Exams cost between $8-$90 depending on a student's free/reduced lunch status
Students must pass exam to receive college credit (each college determines their "passing" threshold)

Students may also take AP courses through the State's Supplemental Online Program (Hawaii Online Courses)
